Grape Leaves Online is Going On Extended Vacation
June 4, 2009Hi all! I really appreciate all of the readership and support of this site as I have tried to get my wine life off the ground. I have enjoyed trying local wines as well as wine bars and sharing my experiences with you. Unfortunately, my work life is making it difficult for me to dedicate the time that I would like to this blog. So while I slave away, GLO is going to the beach (or mountains, or paradise of your dreams). I hope to continue with this in the near future, but for now I just do not have the time to dedicate that I think is necessary to make this blog work.
In the meantime, I couple of things that I've had swirling in my head:
1) Wine dinners at Chef Geoff's: go go go! The wines are supurb and the food pairings are right on. This local restaurant chain offers periodic wine dinners at each of their locations. The next one is scheduled for Lia's in Friendship Heights on Tuesday, June 9th. Hope to see you there!
2) Tarara Winery - located in Loudon County, Virginia, this winery is headed in a positive direction. Under the expertise of their new-ish winemaker, Jordon, the wines are improving considerably. In particular, check out the Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc Reserve.
3) www.localwineevents.com - not to give away all of my secrets, but much of the information that I pulled together on my events page comes from these guys and other websites that I have stumbled upon over the years. You can subscribe to the newsletter for your area to keep posted on local wine activities and events.
Thanks again to everyone that reads regularly. As I said, I hope to be back in action soon. In the meantime, happy wine-ing!!
